Shiju had never been to California before and I hadn't seen back since I was born there 20 something years ago, so I decided to take him out there as a surprise! The surprise part of it didn't last very long since Shiju wheedled it out of me. I needed a break from work and an imminent move back to India told us it was time to take a break from the daily grind and head out west.
After a rather uneventful flight out on Frontier airlines, we got to the Enterprise car rental place and signed up for a compact car. It was kind of cool and damp, since the evenging fog was rolling in off the Pacific Ocean and there had been a slight drizzle earlier in the day. The attendant took us out to find a car that we wanted but quickly realized that there were no compact cars available and offered to upgrade us to a coupe for a minimal fee. We chose the hep new Ford Mustang and were soon on our way to find our hotel.
It was dark and the roads were unfamiliar, however the GPS helped make things a little better. I had not had time to print out the hotel address but I did have the phone number and called the lady to ask for the address. We punched it in the GPS and after several wrong turns and missed exits we made it there and checked in. The first room that she had us in was on the ground floor right off the parking lot and smelling of a sewer. We went back and got the room changed to one up on the floor above and that did not smell bad. It had been a long evening and I was ready for bed.
The next day we woke up and decided to head out to Sea World to watch the world famous killer whales, Shamu and co. perform.
